Angela Bassett Met Gala 2025 - May 2025

“I feel super and I feel fine,” actor Angela Bassett told Vanity Fair while reflecting on her incomparable acting career. Going into her first Met Gala, Bassett was excited to be on what she described as a “world stage for fashion.” This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” also made it even more “thrilling” for her to be in attendance.The actor worked with her stylist of more than a decade, Jennifer Austin, and Daniel Lee, Burberry’s chief creative officer, to create something that would make her feel “confident,” “powerful,” and “sensuous” at the Met Gala 2025. The result? A blue-and-black vine-jacquard velvet tuxedo cape, waistcoat, and tailored trousers—styled with a sheer black blouse, a black silk tie, leather cameo fringe pumps, and jewelry by Messika and hat by Jon Narcisso Millinery. For this year’s Met Gala, Lee tapped Law Roach as a consultant because of the self-proclaimed image architect’s knowledge of style and culture, asking him to aid in curating the brand’s looks and guest list for the evening.
